Episode Description:

Sibel Edmonds 2007 “Kill the Messenger”

Sibel Edmonds was hired as a translator by the FBI shortly after the “terrorist” attacks of September 11, 2001 because of her knowledge of Middle Eastern languages. She was fired 6 months later in March 2002 in retaliation for reporting shoddy work and security breaches to her supervisors that could have prevented those attacks.

John Ashcroft invoked State Secrets Privilege at the request of the Defense Department to retroactively classify her statements and prevent her testimony to the 9/11 Commission and Congress from being used. She may be the most gagged whistle blower in U.S. history.

She lived in Iran and Turkey before coming to the United States as a student in 1988. Fluent in Turkish, Persian, English and Azerbaijani, Edmonds earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice and psychology from George Washington University and her master's in public policy and international commerce from George Mason University.

Sibel is the founder of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition (www.nswbc.org/index.htm) and editor of Boiling Frogs Post (boilingfrogspost.com). A detailed report of her allegations was published in 2009 by American Conservative Magazine (www.informationclearinghouse.info/article22071.htm). Her memoir “Classified Woman” (www.classifiedwoman.com) was published in 2012. A recent clip from Russian TV, fills out the hour show.
