Episode Description:

This Part I of Chatting With History's 2-part interview with Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland. Listen to Liz as she recounts her life and times, beginning with background on her father, King Henry VIII and his marital and extra-marital escapades in pursuit of a male heir to his throne, resulting in England becoming a Protestant nation. Follow her early life including her being "emotionally" molested by one of the perverts making up the nobility in Jolly Old England. Hear her tell of the reign of her older half-sister Mary I and Liz's being held under house arrest until Mary welcomed her "back". Interview continues with Liz's ascension to the throne and her international issues including wars with France and later with Spain, the defeat of the Spanish Armada, interference in English affairs by the Vatican and her rejection of a husband despite several "courtships". Learn of her domestic issues which largely dealt with quelling Catholic uprisings over her making England a Protestant nation, which also focused on Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. The story concludes with Liz railing against those in modern society who regard women as worth less than men as well as those who "war" on the arts.
