Episode Description:

You saw him on Dateline NBC on Christmas night, and Injured On The Job has him as our studio guest.
Northern California resident Eric Drew, fighting for his life in a Seattle hospital with a deadly form of leukemia, and a lab technician at the hospital, figuring that he is not going to live very long, decides to steal his identity and go on a big shopping spree. Does the Seattle police department do anything about it. Heck No. But Eric did, threw the chemopump and his IV lines in his backpack and went out Sherlock Holmes style and found the perpetrator and prosecuted the first case in the United States under the federal HIPAA law that is supposed to protect our sensitive medical and personal information.

Our security specialist David Sweigert who has brought the seriousness of HIPAA issues to our attention on past programs flies out from the East Coast and once again underscores the importance of the protection of this sensitive data.

Eric and other identity theft victims have formed a company in Woodside (www.knightsbridgecastle.com) to help others who are victims of identity theft and his leukemia is in remission. Here is one Californian who doesn't take no for an answer.
