Episode Description:

King Henry VIII is best known for his habit of marrying and tossing a wife aside to marry another, and then another. But, as you'll learn in this episode of Turning Points in British History, King Henry VIII forever changed the course of both British and American history when he disavowed the Catholic Church to make himself head of the new English Church.

He was responsible for establishing the modern English system of government and setting England on the path to become a major sea power. He also managed to spend much of the country's wealth, infuriate the North into rebellion and cement Parliament's role in government due to his own laziness. In the meantime, he had six wives, two he had beheaded.
