Episode Description:

In this visual essay shot at Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and the Columbia Icefield Parkway, travel writer Dick Jordan takes the viewer to Canada’s Rocky Mountain National Parks in the Province of Alberta.

A character called “The Cowboy” tells Dick to “Just get off ‘The Damned Road’” and see the Canadian Rockies from horseback rather than through a car’s windshield as he drives the main highway that cleaves the mountain ranges to the west and east.

But “The Damned Road” transports park visitors to spectacular scenery both along and not far off the highway, as well as trailheads where they can get into the backcountry on a horse or on foot.

The show raises this question: Should you heed “The Cowboy” and get off “The Damned Road,” or stick close to it?

And what about "The Cowboy"? Does he ever drive "The Damned Road?"
