Episode Description:

"Flight School" is a 5-part series on the history of aviation and space travel. Program 1, "Inspired to Fly," introduces the principles and practices of early powered flight. Program highlights include a look of the Wright Flyer and an explanation of wing-warping, pioneered by Orville and Wilbur Wright; the role of aircraft during World War I; barnstormers; and the record-breaking travels of Wiley Post.

The Flight School series was produced in conjunction with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, with a grant from the Armed Forces Electronics and Communication Association.
