Episode Description:
Artist Myrna Balk and photographer Andrea Rosenthal transitioned from their careers as social worker and librarian to create compelling art work. When Balk taught social work in Nepal, she visited sites where she learned about sex trafficking and other indignities that women suffered there. She came back to the States and engaged her friend Rosenthal to create a series of prints melded with photography to depict the horrors of sex trafficking worldwide. Their pieces will be on exhibition in Massachusetts in the fall of 2011, but each of their websites will display their work to a wider audience. See www.MyrnaBalk.com and www.AndreaRosenthal.net.
