Episode Description:
Karma Kitaj, PhD, CEO of Life Spring Coaching, interviews the former corporate attorney Doris Roach. Although working for a Fortune 500 company was a lucrative profession, Roach found that it no longer fulfilled her. She resigned with no plan, other than to travel to "sacred" places, sites that she knew about that nourished her spiritual self. During this sabbatical, she learned to slow down and observe, an experience that took her back to her interest in creating art. But, she knew her savings wouldn't last forever, so she needed to return home and find a way to support herself. She landed upon the idea to become an executive coach and organizational consultant; her legal and business skills lent her credibility. But, she also started to create collages, using encaustic, an ancient heated wax method, and showing her pieces in local art shows. Much to her delight, she began to win honors as an artist.
