Life from Prairie Lights is the reading series of Prairie Lights Books, an independent bookstore in Iowa City, Iowa.
We feature local & nationally (& internationally) know authors reading from their work. The subjects vary, but we tend to focus on fiction and poetry.
The series began about 20 years ago and was for many years broadcast on public radio in Iowa. C-SPAN Book TV has recorded and aired a number of our readings, most recently of essayist Eula Biss. Each reading lasts about an hour.
The usual format is for the author to read for about 40 minutes followed by a Q&A for the remainder of the program.
