"News & Blues" is a 1hr monologue interspersed with supporting video clips, usually about 10 mins, throughout. I sometimes play the blues guitar for 3 mins, backed by generic backing tracks.
The material is controversial political subjects, "whistleblowing", and commentary on the state of the country and the world. I use tongue in cheek, sometimes self-deprecating humor to counter the seriousness of the material being discussed.
I have done the show in Binghamton, NY with TW Cable for 8 years, then in Asheville, NC for 2 years with the local cable provider. Asheville was done through a local media center that interfaced with the cable company and charged a small annual fee. My show was VERY well-received in both markets, emerging as one of the most popular in the system. I keep things moving, unlike most CATV media, because the TV audience has a short attention span. Those who discover it, most always keep tuning in.
Notes to stations:
I produce the show with my own money, out of a sense of civic obligation as well as outrage at the state of current political machinations. I have traditionally submitted one new episode bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) The amount of work required prohibits any more frequent productions. It is produced at my home in Buxton, Maine with a target audience of Americans who sense that something is very wrong ( mainstream media are basically lying most of the time).
