This documentary follows the stories of HIV and AIDS in Ethiopia. The viewer can appreciate the particular risks for women – as commercial sex workers, social workers, mothers and caregivers find the courage the speak out. These individuals break the silence surrounding the stigma of HIV and AIDS. We see women and men come forward to volunteer in their communities as they spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, provide contraceptives and safe sex education, and support those infected with the disease.

Notes to stations:
Part of the series, WOMEN'S VOICES: Stories of Change, films celebrating Women’s History Month, documenting community efforts around the world to provide women with affordable health care services, including family planning. These subjects are in the news due to recent issues resurfacing. One source of controversy is the Pope's stating at the end of March that condoms do not prevent AIDS, but rather encourage the spread of AIDS. This January, the global gag rule was overturned, ending restrictions on U.S. funding to overseas clinics and family planning groups. Questions raised by both of these actions bring renewed relevance to these classic films.
